The Capacity Building Work Group is creating the tools providers need to have quality programs that are staffed by a stable and skilled work force. The goals of this workgroup include: increasing the skills of all out-of-school-time providers through a coordinated system of professional development, providing professional development information to current and potential out-of-school-time staff members, building a system of peer networking among providers to share experience and information; and providing a range of resources to providers on such topics as best practices, funding opportunities, evaluation, and professional development. The work group helped build this website by providing ideas and resources for content and features. A workforce survey was recently completed which will provide data on the out-of-school-time workforce in Illinois. A professional development handbook is currently under development, and the group is work towards a coordinated training system across the state.
